Inter-house Annual Athletic Meet 2003

Today Sakya Academy held its 2023 Inter-house Athletic Meet, the sixth of its kind to be held at the school since its founding.  This consists of a competition between the school’s four houses: Shariputra (Red), Maudgalyana (Yellow), Chandrakirti (Green) and Nagarjuna (Blue).

Throughout its short history, the event has never failed to border on the spectacular, but this year’s meet was outright jaw-dropping.

Participants were elated that His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizin Gyana Vajra Rinpoche was able to take time off his busy international teaching schedule to grace the meet with his presence as Guest of Honour.

The school was also delighted to welcome Sri Karan Singh Nagniyal, Inspector General of Police (I.P.S.) as Chief Guest.

We were also joined by two distinguished Special Guests, Sri Narayan Singh Naplchiyal (IPS), and Sri P.S. Garbyal, Excise Commissioner.

Everyone gave a tremendous performance and deserved to win, but in the end, the Cock House Trophy was swept away by the Blue House, who had trained hard under the guidance  of Mrs. Tenzin Yangchen and House Captain Master Anand Kushal.

The Cock House Trophy goes to the house that has amassed the most points in meets held throughout the year.

The best March-past was won by the Green House, trained by House Mistress Ms Dolma Yangkyi and House Captain Master Kelsang Wangdue.

All four houses were supervised by P.T. Master, Mr. Sanjay Khampa.

Well done all!!!!

Swachh Bharat Day

On this inspiring day, our students embarked on a cleaning mission of the area surrounding their school.

Big and small, they set out in the morning, armed with enthusiasm, protection gloves and an abundance of large plastic bags, with a mind  to rid their neighbourhood of the all-pervading rubbish thriving on its roads, paths and even temples.

A day well-spent, to the benefit of all. If only, by removing an eyesore from the view of passers-by, but also by inspiring whomever was witness to our students’ effort to, in turn, bear in mind the importance of enjoying a clean space.

7th Founders Day at Sakya Academy

How time flies! It seems like only yesterday that our first batch of students arrived at Sakya Academy. It is hard to grasp the deep and radical transformation our boys have undergone since then.

This transformation is especially apparent in our older boys, who are now in Year 11. When they joined the Academy and were placed in Year 4, they had a very basic – if any at all -knowledge of English and Maths. The core of their formation had been centred on the memorisation of ritual texts.

If we fast-forward to today, we now see a group of young gentlemen of impeccable conduct, fluent in 4 languages, well-versed in all the subjects of their curriculum, with an indomitable aspiration to better themselves and be of service to society. They are an embodiment of the vision that led His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizin to create the Sakya Academy.
